Safety chain is used to help provide additional assurance by securing the trailer to the tow vehicle. If there were an accidental disconnection, the safety chain will keep the trailer and vehicle connected. Trailer Safety Chains are required in most states to secure the trailer to the tow vehicle in the event the trailer coupler comes off of the ball.
